Ask HN: Free or cheap advanced programming classes for an experienced developer?

1 pointsby orangepenguinover 9 years ago
Somehow, I became a developer. I didn't really intend to at any point (I majored in Marketing in college), but I am now. I've spent the last few years writing Python, PHP, Go, and an awful lot of Javascript.
But I never studied programming in school.
I've learned programming concepts on my own ever since I was 11, and have worked in quite a few languages. I spend a lot of time reading articles online, and trying to improve my code via StackOverflow and code reviews.
I'm working full-time and supporting a family. My wife is in Grad School. I can't really afford to go study at a University now, but I feel like I'm missing some foundational concepts that Computer Science majors would have learned.
For a guy on a budget with only 5 - 10 hours a week free, are there any good advanced programming courses out there? Because of my experience level, I'm not interested in a lot of the stuff I've been finding (geared toward people with no programming knowledge).
