A while back I read the book version of Joel Spolsky's Joel on Software[1] and one of the many things that struck me is how he gives each developer a private office. He's written about it and been written about in various places [2, 3], but I would like to hear from other developers or people who run tech companies – especially small ones including startups – whether they do this, too? If so, can you share a bit about how it goes down? Do people like it? Does it help attract smart people?
Thanks!
[1]: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/BuytheBooks.html
