We are building a new software platform and we have the .io, .co, .tv and a few others but we really want the .com and someone has been holding onto it since ~2010. From internet digging I have concluded it is likely held onto by the same people that owned a PR firm in canada with the same name that seems to have only lasted a year or so ~2010 and then vanished. I'm not sure if theyre holding onto it for sentimental value or what but we are really hoping to acquire it somehow. That said in a month the domain expires and we're wondering what the best way to increase our odds of getting it are? Should we do godaddy domain backorder? send a letter to the catchall email pleading our case? Any ideas appreciated!
This isn't worth worrying about at this stage. Spend your energy on something (almost anything) else. If you fail (which statistically speaking is very likely) the domain won't matter. Focus on not failing first, domain later.
