Ask HN: Tech areas or business domains with less churn at superficial levels?

Are there any application or technical areas in software where new frameworks are not replacing old ones every couple of years? At the same time, inspite of that engineers still get time to solve hard problems and do quality work within those constraints?

*nix. The &#x27;API&#x27; is very stable...one might say the last major &#x27;disruption&#x27; was namespaces which spawned the world of containers. Closer to home, plain old JavaScript which has become a better candidate for many uses as browsers have converged toward standards and Node has made it available for more general purpose tasks.<p>That&#x27;s what comes to my mind.
