Currently have a client who is looking to expand their localization strategy. The content they serve is currently all English, however descriptions and prices are localized to several different countries. I've only ever served lozalized sites via sub-folders (example.com/fr, etc.), but wondering what the implications are of serving from country specific TLDs, targeted via webmaster tools.
Not trying to get too cute here - but since it's a static site it'd be trivial to build to multiple domains, and reading through the relevant Google docs it seems like this is a valid strategy (unless I'm seriously misreading this) - so considering it as an option.
My main concern is content duplication - some of the pages across domains would be very similar.
Any input from people with experience in this area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
