Ask HN: Any Advice about or Insight into Instagram Public Content Permissions?

1 pointsby Nora_Kelleherabout 8 years ago
Hello! Just built a new feature for my site that I'm really excited about. It involves displaying users' Instagram photos on their profile on my site when a certain hashtag is used. Technically, it's complete and works great, but we were denied public_content permissions from Instagram and received only generic reasoning that the use case is not compliant. I've been reading up about others' similar predicaments, but I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly what they're looking for in the below:
"We will approve submissions of apps that fall into these use cases:
(1) To help individuals share their own content with 3rd party apps (2) To help brands and advertisers understand and manage their audience and digital media rights (3) To help broadcasters and publishers discover content, get digital rights to media, and share media with proper attribution
Any Instagram developers out there who can help clarify? Maybe some examples of what works and what doesn't? Thank you so much in advance!
