Ask HN: Opinions on public-key-quality test services?

1 pointsby ribasushiabout 8 years ago
I recently learned of the existence of https://keytester.cryptosense.com which seems to implement a number of clever algorithms against a preexisting dataset to attest whether a keypair "looks random enough". I do not have any crypto-expertise to speak of, and was wondering whether receiving a "your key is probably ok" actually means anything.
Can someone with the know-how weigh in on how practical this kind of checks are, and whether there are other similar services? Thank you!
