Ask HN: Where to find OS translation projects?

3 pointsby webjamesabout 8 years ago
My friend is has a masters in translation looking for open source projects to help on. I suggested she looked online, as some of the projects I've been involved in have all needed translation at some point. However now I've come to look for a project for her I can't find one. When I used to look at localisation files there were just a set of structured text files. I guess there have now been dedicated toolkits developed to help crowdsource this kind of work. Any advice/pointers would be gratefully received.

The result of localizing is going to be some sort of data file whether or not localization is done by hand or algorithmically. My advice would be to pick a project and contact the maintainers via email&#x2F;IRC&#x2F;Github because that&#x27;s probably a good filter for interest in the project and work.<p>Good luck.
