With all the talk these days about automation destroying jobs, are Baristas a counter example?
It occurred to me the other day in a cafe as I watched people happily pay prices for coffee hugely exceeding input costs, where are all the robot baristas.
There are plenty of automated home and office machines, that usually produce subpar results. I am talking about full blown expensive commercial machines that produce large quantities of cafe quality coffee consistently, all day.
Considering these machines could afford to be very expensive, I would think this is a solveable problem. So I am left with two answers.
1. People like the human experience, if this is the case then what does this say about automation elsewhere?
2. This is a good business idea, really expensive high quality, high volume coffee machines.
