I'm a junior software engineer working at a security company, and always try to deepen my knowledge on the field because I've very interested in it. I can definitely see my career staying in the security space. DEF CON seems kinda cool, but after having been to several conferences like RSA and JavaOne I'm a bit jaded. Networking opportunities are better at smaller meetups and most tech talks are just guys reading off a set of powerpoint slides, and the material can be easily found online. DEC CON seems interesting, but I'm not sure if its worth my money (tickets, flight, hotel, etc) and using up PTO. Does it offer something that other conferences don't?
