Hi full stack web developers,
GoGoGrandparent builds products that help older adults age independently in their home. Apart from being a wonderful thing to do, two trends are coming together over the next decade that make this market really interesting:
(1) people are getting older. 10,000 people retire every day.
(2) people have smaller families that live far away from each other. So when things get rocky for older adults, either family members have to move, the older adult has to move or the family has to pay tens of thousands of dollars to hire a caregiver.
GoGoGrandparent believes we can keep people in their homes, and stave off more expensive support services for two to three years, if not indefinitely. The first and biggest problem people come across as they age is mobility, but there is much more to do.
Your first project would be to make a dashboard families can use to manage the services of their older loved ones.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
- Our backend is Node.js, Express.js, MySQL, Twilio API, AWS
- The dashboard has been designed and sufficiently mulled over (so you don't have to have design experience)
- We don't have a front end. GoGoGrandparent.com was built on a website builder. You would be responsible for choosing the front end stack.
- Open to contract-to-hire
- Compensation range is $60k - $140k & 1% - 3% in stock
- We're based in Mountain View but are open to any candidates living in the Bay Area.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 1+ years of work experience, preferably with some derivation of JavaScript (ES6), ideally Node.js
- Degree in Computer Science
- You've shipped your own stuff, start to finish, at least once
TO APPLY EMAIL FOUNDERS@GOGOGRANDPARENT.COM YOUR:
(1) resumé,(2) github, (3) two sentences about why you'd like the gig
ABOUT US:
- The team is me, David & two interns
- We're growing fast
- I was the first product and operations manager at Soothe, the biggest on demand massage company in the world. I took them from their Seed round to their Series A 6 months later. While there I learned how to work with older non-technical demographics (a typical user is mid 50s - 60s) and how important good customer service can be to certain types of companies.
- My cofounder is David Lung. When David graduated from Berkeley he started his own app making business. He grew that business to dozens of people producing over 70 apps in two years. We met at a hackathon in January of 2015 and have lived together ever since.
- We both know how to code. I'm pretty bad and David is very good.
- There are a lot of great things about this gig. My personal favorite is that every day, people that have lived 4-5 times longer than me tell us that just when they thought nothing else good would happen, we have come along and changed their life.
Thank you for reading this job post and your interest in GoGoGrandparent,
Justin
CONTRACTING COMPANIES: We've had great success with contracting companies in the past. We are not interested in working with one right now because we want this project to help us find a long term team member.
