Ask HN: What's a good way to wake up to my own music?

1 pointsby antithesisover 7 years ago
I want to wake up to my own music, but I'm not content with any of the solutions for Android. None of the music alarm apps have worked consistently for me, and I'm tired with fiddling with it. I want something more reliable, preferably with the appropriate software built into the firmware. I also don't like touch screens.
Here's what I'm looking for:
- An alarm clock feature with RTC wake, to save battery life
- Built-in speakers, preferably with good sound quality as well
- The ability to wake up to an entire album, either through playlist or FLAC support
- Reliability. So I probably want the alarm clock to be a native app, not a third-party one
- Nice controls. A click wheel would be perfect, but buttons are also fine,
I know I can connect the device to external speakers, but I don't want to miss an alarm when it isn't. That's why I want it to have built-in speakers as well.
Newer phones have touch screens and no RTC wake, PMPs generally don't have speakers, so I'm mostly looking at older feature phones like BlackBerries and Nokias. However, I don't know of any ones that will let me wake up to an entire album. Does anyone know of a good solution?
