Ask HN: Are nanodegrees useful as qualifications?

2 pointsby 323454over 7 years ago
To those of you who have obtained "nanodegrees" or certificates from online courses, how do employers and other people react to you describing it as a reason to hire you or use your services? Does anyone consider it "enough"? Will they generally look for additional qualifications to back it up? And which, if any, online learning certifications are considered reputable enough to carry weight as a qualification?
I ask because I'm planning to take Udacity's deep learning course, but I am skeptical as to how much value the certification adds above the content itself.
