Ask HN: EU Developers how do you plan to handle users from GDPR countries?

18 pointsby jonathan-kosgeiover 7 years ago
The EU's General Data Protection Regulation is going to be implemented in May next year.
With that in mind we're testing a new flag at Ipdata, `is_eu`, to help our users identify users from the EU and inform how they handle their data.
How would this inform your site's functioning? eg. Would you not cookie these users? Require explicit consent before proceeding? Refuse engagement? etc What would you do?
Also since IPs may be considered personal data under GDPR, we do not store the IPs that call our service longer than 24 hours, and only so as to mitigate abuse.
