how to determine that we need a new app or we need to integrate it current app. The main app is basically a product delivery app and ship parcel inter city. The marketing dept wants to integrate store for buying and selling of good from different merchants. I believe in handsoff, from ome app to another vice versa for simplicity and atomicity. I believe these r two different products with unique identity and user will get further confuse. Plus adding more features and modules will make it complex.
[random remarks from the internet]
Prototype both...in good faith. Show both to some users and some potential users. Get feedback. Because in terms of business it does not matter what you think. It does not matter what marketing thinks. It matters what users think...and more importantly what they do.
To me and without looking at the details, a separate app makes sense if the goal is primarily to add users who don't use the existing functionality. A single app makes sense if the goal is to expand engagement of existing users.
My general opinion is that a separate app dilutes the brand and increases the technical workload because two apps necessarily have duplicated code.
Good luck.
