I'm going to have to disagree. As a consumer, every single time there's "market consolidation", I lose. It happened when local cable companies went away, when one of the two daily papers in town folded, when Microsoft drove every other OS out of business, when pharmaceutical companies merged, when the US allowed large scale branch banking. I can't think of a single merger that had any benefits to me, the consumer. Choice goes away, prices rise, customer service sucks. Github is going to sour because of corporate requirements to "interoperate" with something-or-other, or because of "strategic partnerships" or whatever. Mark my words.
