Ask HN: Generalized trajectories of life choices

1 pointsby slimshady94almost 7 years ago
I'm interested in knowing - on an individual/familial level, across countries and cultures - what are the careers/achievements/joys/losses/mistakes of people similar to me. What is the career and likely trajectories of X people like, what their children and family life is like, and how they rank against other groups. ( X = first/second/third/fourth generation immigrants, non-immigrant, doctors/engineers, non-immigrant businessmen, non-immigrant artistic/cultural professionals).
What they're children's life trajectories are like, their average income, quality of life, what happens if they get hooked on drugs, what happens if they get into sports/music etc. Any other life choices. I try to get an idea through LinkedIn, of where people started in the 70s, 80s, and where they've ended up today, but it is a very small sample size. I'm lookong for some type of census studies/research on what groups of people are on average successful, on a generational timescale. But not statistics - actual life stories aggregated 100s at a time.
