Ask HN: Is this a good way to fund open-source?

3 pointsby mijustinover 6 years ago
The "Deploy to Heroku" button makes it easy for anyone to deploy source code from GitHub to Heroku (no manual steps).
Screenshots here: https://twitter.com/mijustin/status/1035748931534127106
One thing I'd like to see: if an indie developer or open source project uses the "Deploy to Heroku" button, they should get a commission from Heroku anytime it results in a new subscription.
What do you think? Could this be a good way to fund open-source projects?
