2018 Data Share: Blog Traffic
I’ve been running my blog for close to ten years now, and I’ve always been curious how the traffic I receive compares to other tech bloggers. Google searches all seem supply the non-helpful answer of “it depends”.
In the interests of sharing, now that 2018 is over, I’m happy to share some data for the year. Perhaps others might like to do the same?
http://datagenetics.com/files/traffic2018.png
TL;DR – I finished 2018 with about 1.2 million PV (down slightly from last year; web traffic is very spikey.
A few other stats:
-Approx 48% of my traffic is now non-desktop so I’ve (finally) got around to changing my site to a responsive design that is more mobile/tablet friendly (yeah, yeah, I know what took me so long!)
-Browser breakdown: 57% Chrome, 25% Safari, 6% Firefox, 2% IE, the rest noise.
-Search provides the lions share of my referral traffic (67%), followed by direct traffic.
-97.7% of this search traffic comes from Google, 1.6% from Bing, the rest noise.
