Might be a weird wish for the USB Type-C spec, but it would really be good if there was a way to add to the specification for a "reverse" audio accessory mode.
What this will look like is a passive adaptor with a male TRRS plug and a female USB type-c plug.
This will encourage the adoption of USB type-c plug to replace the audio adaptor entirely.
How this could work is via using the same audio adaptor accessory pinout, but where the DAC audio chip if not powered, would act as an analog pass though for these signals. This can be possible if we used internal mosfets to disconnect the pass-though on usb power input.
Audio Accessory Mode Pinout: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB-C#Audio_Adapter_Accessory_Mode_2
