Ask HN: Gmail Equivalent for Inbox Reminder Shortcut on Android?

1 pointsby spirover 6 years ago
I'm a heavy user of Google Inbox Reminders.
I have a reminder icon on Android's bottom bar. Looks like https://imgur.com/a/ap8yXEB
Tapping it opens up a new reminder; one tap to open it, I write it, one tap to save it.
With Inbox going away, does Gmail have anything similar for Android?
Inbox reminders really suit me-- easy creation, snooze until date/place, unified emails/reminders gives an action list and only one app to check.
My current solution is to have a Gmail Compose shortcut on Android home screen, tap it, set recipient to myself, and use the subject line as the reminder.
Google Calendar has an "add reminder", but my reminders are mostly orthogonal to my calendar and it's harmful to have them in the calendar. Also there's no "Quick Add Calendar Reminder" widget for Android.
https://xkcd.com/1205/
