Show HN: RequestCreative, a website builder for your freelance business

1 pointsby olleracabout 6 years ago
Hi HN community,
I'm David, the founder of RequestCreative (https://www.requestcreative.com/), a website builder that helps you create a site around your freelance offerings. After developing a marketplace that didn't gain enough traction, we started interviewing lots of our freelancers. We learned there's a big difference (in pricing) between freelancers who knew how to navigate their market and advocate for standard practices and those that were stuck at the mercy of their clients.
We decided, after conducting a few dozen interviews, that it was important to help freelancers level up their game from not knowing how to serve their market effectively to knowing how to navigate even complex client demands. We believe this shift in aptitude starts with helping freelancers build their own professional site where anyone can hire them.
In this version of the site, we put a lot of emphasis on ease of use -- so creating a site (and getting hired through it) is as simple as posting a blog post. Also, we make sure every site loads very fast. The stack is a traditional, server-rendered web app -- and we only load a minimal amount of Javascript on the client-facing/non-editable version of the site. It's also mobile-friendly, so all your clients can hire you no matter where they're browsing from.
Our upcoming roadmap includes automically handling contracts (as part a paid plan). The contracts will be generated from a questionnaire that your clients fill out and then sent to you for review before your client agrees to it. Our long term goal is to help you automatically handle all of the tiny, but important details around your freelance projects, so you can stay focused on doing the work you enjoy and avoid having to talk through a missing project detail at 1AM with an angry client.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this project!
