Ask HN: How to best open source failed company source code

1 pointsby tresanteabout 6 years ago
Hey folks,
I was part of a company that did some great work but ultimately failed. As things wind down it doesn't look like there's going to be a taker for the assets and I would hate to see all our hard work go completely confined to the dustbin of history. Furthermore, IMHO our work in an important and growing field could be genuinely useful to some people out there.
Does anyone have suggestions or best practices on how to open source work like this and attract people to consider contributing to its future development, other than creating public repos on GitHub and a license?
Thanks!
