What value does Symantec have beyond selling antivirus software to vulnerable and clueless people?
Their consumer Norton antivirus software is known to MitM connections and break the security of browsers and OSes, while they sell BlueCoat TLS breaking boxes to Iran and other unsavory actors. Take a peek at: https://www.zdnet.com/article/tens-of-thousands-of-chromeboo...
Additionally, they were so incompetent as a Certificate Authority that they had their root certificate revoked by browser vendors: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17918748
If Broadcom wants to buy a sinking ship, Symantec is it!
