Ask HN: Partial Trademark in Domain Name

1 pointsby WadeWilliamsover 14 years ago
I've purchased a domain name that I'd like to use as a platform to promote my personal web development services. I thought 'transpire solutions' sounded cool and I got the domain(s). It turns out "transpire inc" holds a trademark on the name.
My question is can I build a site around this domain, or is that just asking for issues? I probably wouldn't start a company around it, but rather just use it to showcase my designs and attract customers.
Here is the trademark info:
Word Mark TRANSPIRE Goods and Services IC 042. US 100 101. G & S: Computer consulting services, namely, developing custom and general purpose software; providing technical support services, namely, troubleshooting of computer hardware and software problems and providing solutions to the problems; providing computer consulting services in the design, selection, implementation and use of computer hardware and software systems for others; and providing computer-aided engineering services for others. FIRST USE: 20040727. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20040727
