Reminds me of The Server™ at my last job, built in a hurry using Node.js 0.something to talk to IoT devices in people's homes. It was amazing how well it scaled once we had time to refactor and test everything thoroughly. Everything was encrypted and checksummed, we were able to upgrade and downgrade between any two versions, firmware was verified against a public key on the devices, and it was generally what I always thought IoT could be. Now if only someone open sources the whole deal we could be in for an IoT revolution…
