I have been contracting as an IT professional in the UK (London) for a long time now and wanted to know how it compares to the equivalent in the US.<p>Hopefully, some of my peers here on HN have experience of either both locations so can provide valuable insights, or of contracting within the US and are prepared to talk about it a bit.<p>In the UK, I have worked in software engineer and platform engineer roles, under my own limited company, for a range of clients, each spanning from a few months to numerous years (rolling contract renewals).<p>Is there a contracting market in the US, how does it work, who can partake in it, who sources for roles, etc.<p>Happy to answer any questions if anything I've said is unclear or requires elaboration.
