Fellow Hackers:
I'm currently working on a new project in the realm of audiobooks to expand my business (American Consumer News, LLC). The site will have a heavy focus on content (best sellers lists, landing pages for audiobooks, reviews, a blog section), but I'd also like to have some social elements to the site (without it turning into a niche social network).
What we've got done so far can be seen at http://www.audiobooktopia.com/
The question that I'm wrestling with is what social features would be useful.
The ideas that I have so far are:
- The ability to create lists of audiobooks and share them with the world (I.E. "Matt's Top Five Lifestyle Business Books")
- The ability to write reviews of audiobooks and share them publicly.
- The ability to keep tracks of books that a user has read, would like to read, etc.
Are these features good/useful social features? Is there something else I should be doing in addition/in-place of these?
