Posted my story in reddit and got some funny and interesting stories - please, share yours!
Mine:
As a hardware startup, we send a package (very rare and important components for mounting) to one of our engineering teams in a neighboring country. Using express (the most expensive) delivery as we always do - with promised delivery in 3 days.
- Then Europe gets hit hard by Covid-19
- Airports closed and days pass
- After 3 weeks our package is still “on the way”
- When checking the tracking it reports it to be still with border customs for the last 2 weeks (obviously stuck)
- So I decide to file a complaint - customer support says it may take up to 3 months; it was for us impossible to wait
- I start calling one post service after another, asking friends and friends of friends to find me a number to the international investigation department (which is private as I was informed)
- Writing dozens of emails to different levels of the delivery monster and learning how the process of complaining works
- I'm even trying to get in touch with people from border customs to somehow push the whole process from the other side - unsuccessful
- Then I realize I can get hired by the delivery company itself, to get inside and just find the package on my own
- So I find an open low-skill position in their airport warehouse with an option to start right next week ... PERFECT! ... Send the CV ... get in touch with their HR, fill the online form for the position, and am eagerly waiting to start a new career - at least in the meantime I will find the effin package!Luckily a couple days after me signing up, the package moved from the border, and our team received it with an almost month-long delay.(Btw. that official complaint is still not resolved - guess they are still searching for the package and job position also somehow strangely evaporated with no further communication ....)
lesson learned -> when you have something very important - deliver it on your own!
