Ask HN: What does it take to go from B.S. 5 YOE SDE to a Machine Learning role?

I worked in a DevOps&#x2F;Infrastructure roles for about 3 years and am about to hit 3 years doing backend development. Recently, I&#x27;ve been thinking about the different career paths to go down or try next.<p>I have a BS in Computational Math and wonder if a ML &#x2F; Deep Learning path would be more interesting.<p>Any advice or perspective would be appreciated.
