The talk of rigged elections in particular seems ominous. The whole point of an election is consensus even if one party doesn’t like the outcome

Wow, I found that a very powerful and persuasive article. One question is why don't they show the stress index from 1870-1940? Stress obviously went up during the civil war, but was there relief after? Stress prob. went down in the 1920s but up by 1930.

One thing I’ve been mulling this over is does this model actually hold for countries like Russia and China which have a different political system? Does it hold for Saudia Arabia, UAE, Iran and Pakistan?<p>I’m thinking there’s something incomplete about this model.
