Even if it wasn&#x27;t for global warming you can&#x27;t come out ahead economically if you use a steam turbine for power conversion.<p>If you put down a steam turbine and a gas turbine with the same power output side by side in buildings you would think that the gas turbine was an auxiliary building of the steam turbine, maybe with a break room, some bathrooms, and a small machine shop. The difference in power density is that extreme.<p>It&#x27;s a major reason why the nuclear LWR has failed. Even if the fuel and the reactor were free it would be hard to fight against methane-fueled gas turbines.
