> Chipmakers such as Macronix, Micron and SK Hynix have recently joined Qualcomm, Samsung, and the SMIC in seeking approval from the U.S. to sell electronic components to Huawei.
> Before the chip ban, Huawei overtook Samsung to become the world's No. 1 smartphone seller with over 200 million units in 2019.
Imagine a world where one Chinese partially state-owned publicly-traded corporation -- SMIC -- is asking permission of a foreign government to do business with another Chinese corporation -- Huawei. Talk about sovereignty!
Compare with one division of Samsung seeking permission (from the same foreign government) to restore the ability to topple another internal division of Samsung.
What a time to be alive!

Basically, the US has become better than China at being China....
1. Use debt over equity for investment.
2. Use sanctions and export restrictions to prop up US companies.

> the vital printed circuit boards.
I think it is unlikely that printed circuit boards made in the US make it into any mass produced Huawei product.
PCB manufacturing is not that high tech, and all major manufacturing runs of PCB's are done in China.
The fact the author of this article didn't know that severely reduces the entire articles credibility in my mind.
