How Lidl is designed to make you shop big and spend more money

This was a bit of a strange read.
1. Long queues... That's how low budget chains operate, they understaff so you regularly get longer queues. They usually resolve pretty quickly. I don't see how this would be a reason for buying lots of groceries. People go there because it's cheap, having to wait an extra minute isn't a dealbreaker for most people.
2. No sandwiches or food to go... This is very country dependent.
3. No self service... Are there any budget chains with self service? It's probably more expensive.
4. Separate entrance and exit... This is pretty common. I'm assuming it's to trick people into buying something by forcing them to go through the store. I don't see how it supports the thesis of Lidl being a shop where you shop a lot.
5. Awkward baskets... They look like regular baskets to me, I agree that their size tricks you into underestimating how much you buy.
