I used to go to Angel.co and search for companies by geography and date listed but it looks like they did away with that feature. Product Hunt is a little too hype-y. Crunchbase is paid and/or for more advanced startups. Is there a good spot for finding searchable new startup/project listings?
Edit: I will point out, Startup School has a really good search interface for other participants. I just wish that something like this existed for all startups and/or those that want to submit.
There's lists of websites where startups are supposed to publish their launch https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24566906
I subscribed to the https://betalist.com/ weekly newsletter. On their website you can search by product category.
Dunno but we could make a simple website that collects all the data reported about a startup and displays it as a json object or even csv. And for those too lazy or scared to host the service, it could be distributed as a mirrored zip file.
The only bottleneck of course is collecting and updating the large amount of data from many many different sources
