Ask HN: Could software ever create an animated movie by just 'reading' a story?

6 pointsby aniijbodover 4 years ago
As games engines seem to be growing ever closer to one day being able to synthesize and deploy simulated human characters capable of delivering on-screen performances that are totally visually indistinguishable from so called ‘live action’ drama, the possibility alluded to above raises questions about the future of content creation. So, how close are we to the prospect of ‘a book turning itself into a live action movie?’

Ever? Probably.<p>With the current state of technology we don&#x27;t even know how to approach a problem like this. What you&#x27;re describing is many many years away.

there&#x27;s a lot of storyboarding research done at Disney research. I would check out their publications to get an idea of the state of the art for technology moving in this direction
