Ask HN: Why would my HOA change it's domain name

1 pointsby Bodellover 4 years ago
I have redacted personally identifying info.
My HOA Board recently published their October meeting minutes. In it they stated: "...we have access to the [community] website again. It can be found at[New URL]"
My question is: Why would they change their URL because they "lost access" to their website. The site its self is still hosted in the same place (squarespace, same IP address and everything) and nothing has changed only the URL. What do you think the story is here?

It’s an HOA. More likely the person who registered and controlled the passwords died or had a fight with the board and took their toys with them.
Be glad they’re fighting amongst themselves and not bothering residents.

They forgot to renew the domain name and someone else got it instead.
