Your responses are a bit odd. The fact that caffeine is a drug, is hardly a matter of opinion, is it?
Also, what about people who drink caffeinated beverages, but not with the specific intent of helping with programming?
I answered no, but sometimes I drink alcohol during marathon coding sessions to make sure I don't stay up all night and also for fun. It always seems to help me program actually.
Lately I've been drinking an energy drink that contains:
- Caffeine
- Dimethylaminoethanol (shown to increase vigilance and alertness as well as improve mood)
- Methylhexanamine (stimulant)
- 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP, mood enhancer)
- Yohimbine (stimulant)
- Vitamin B12 (minor deficiency can cause fatigue, depression, and poor memory)
- Potassium citrate (not sure what it's for, Wikipedia says it prevents burning when you pee)
It seems to work for me better than regular coffee or energy drinks, but I probably wouldn't recommend it if you are on medication or have a heart condition, it's pretty intense at first.
