Ask HN: Are air filters useful and safe to use?

1 pointsby damnencryptionover 4 years ago
I am hearing mixed reviews and advice on the internet. Some people report getting irritated by some filters which generate ozone to get rid of the odour (not sure if how true given it's very little). Others report better sleep and environment.
Which is it?

Filters and ozone generators are not necesarily a same thing.
Ozone, in relatively low concentrations, is an irritant, and in higher concentration is actually toxic, some related notes are on a recent thread here:
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25026567
I would say that it all depends on the amount/concentration of ozone, i.e. it is dependant on the generator and size of rooms/flow of air treated, etc..
