We have all been told ad nauseam that Cobol and Fortran are supposed to have died long ago, but there's an enormous amount of code that still needs to be maintained. But what else is out there that's like this?
Nothing will come back, but maintenance/features(?) on code you and others wrote during a certain time period will continue - many companies are tepid about rewrites (as an example: a web app I wrote in 2013 for a company is still in production, but not used as much since most people use their phone app)<p>Something tells me I'll be riding out into the sunset doing a lot of JavaScript, Java, or C (I'm 52, been doing this fulltime since 1989).
