Wikipedia needs my personal data?

1 pointsby soongover 4 years ago
Listen Wikipedia, several times now I thought about making a one-time-donation. I use Wikipedia a lot, so i think it's only fair to give back a little. But why do you need all my personal information like my real name and my address when I try make a PAYPAL-Donation ? Sorry, but nope.
EDIT: Turns out you don't have to - I'm just an idiot.

> Listen Wikipedia,
Have you contacted them?
I checked their German page and after selecting paypal there's a 'no address' option.
I'm sure they will work with you on alternative payment options, e.g. simply give you their paypal email address. They accept checks in mail, maybe they also accept cash in mail. https://donate.wikimedia.org/wiki/Ways_to_Give
