Ask HN: How would you prepare for 6 months without internet?

2 pointsby flipfloppityover 4 years ago
This may or may not be a shamelessly self-interested question, since I will soon be in an connection-free environment until June for work. That said, I think it's an interesting thought exercise. What tools/materials would you download in advance? What projects would you work on to stay productive? Curious to see what ideas HNers come up with.

You might be interested in OtherNet (previously Outernet). You can be connection-free and still geekier than those you leave behind for that time.
https://othernet.is/products/dreamcatcher-v3-05
Some history etc. of what OtherNet is:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Othernet

1. A good game that can be played offline 2. A wikipedia database download 3. 100 books from Libgen that you know you'll want to read eventually.
Should all fit comfortably on a cheap USB drive, but maybe get two for redundancy.
