What's the best app you discovered, or rediscovered, in 2020?<p>Mine is Brief [1], which has been a refreshingly simple way for me to consume news without loads of editorialization. My favorite features:<p>* each "brief" provides a timeline of events (in the form of other news briefs) leading up to the event that the brief is about, which makes understanding context much easier<p>* you can text the editor directly from the app<p>* all sources are immediately available<p>* the "Verbatim" section provides quotes from leading officials on the subject (senators, AP, diplomats, etc)<p>* reasonable pricing at $10/month<p>I am in no way affiliated with Brief and actually discovered them on HN.<p>[1] https://apps.apple.com/us/app/brief-just-the-news-you-need/id1475186118
TextSniper.app<p>It does simple OCR, but it's so well-designed that it changed the way I use my computer. It's effectively copy and paste, except now I can copy text from scenes in movies, images I come across online, copy-protected pdf files, interface copy in other apps, etc...<p>Sadly, for the developers, the app is so handy, I imagine Apple will sherlock the thing shortly.<p><a href="https://www.textsniper.app/" rel="nofollow">https://www.textsniper.app/</a>
