I don’t use note-taking apps because Markdown is sufficient for the task, plus it’s going to outlast most note-taking apps.<p>Same thing for media management software: my own file system is sufficient for the task. It’s also going to outlast most media management apps.

Emacs has been life changing for me in this regard. It&#x27;s ugly and brutalist and weird - but also beautiful! Everything I do (Email, slack, GTD, project planning, time keeping, note taking, typing this comment) is done in one program. I&#x27;ve cancelled so many subscriptions over the last few years as I consolidated everything - I realized most startups could be implemented as an emacs minor mode!

on MacOS I turn off favorites from appearing in a freshly opened safari window or tab.
