I don’t use note-taking apps because Markdown is sufficient for the task, plus it’s going to outlast most note-taking apps.<p>Same thing for media management software: my own file system is sufficient for the task. It’s also going to outlast most media management apps.
Emacs has been life changing for me in this regard. It's ugly and brutalist and weird - but also beautiful! Everything I do (Email, slack, GTD, project planning, time keeping, note taking, typing this comment) is done in one program. I've cancelled so many subscriptions over the last few years as I consolidated everything - I realized most startups could be implemented as an emacs minor mode!
