Hi,
What is the most rewarding thing you learnt recently? It can be something technical as well as non-technical. Some samples:
- I learnt how to play "Lewis & Clark" by Tommy Emmanuel - if someone is interested then this tutorial is dope https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLsgI-TiX9s
- After 13 years of break I started to relearn French.
- I started learning Rust
I opened my first brokerage account and bought my first stock this week! Technically I have lots of investments already through my 401 K at my job, but it certainly feels different to have my finger on the "trade" button.
Focus on the means rather than the end. This takes off the pressure and helps you work efficiently so that you achieve your goal, instead of just dreaming about it. It also helps overcome procrastination.
I mentor school kids, trying to get them to build interesting stuff and choose engineering as a career. They haven’t been to school in basically a year, they’re stuck at home missing their friends, everything’s upside down, but despite that - they still want to go the extra mile, show up to their Zoom calls, and work together to build a cool robot. It’s rewarding to know that people don’t give up, despite such a difficult situation.
I learned french gastronomy. Its basic theory is similar to cooking for geeks, intended to taste and art.
It is same as create service that tech and art make good product and experience both.
I got a much better handle on basic functional programming by attempting Advent of Code in Scala.
It's of absolutely no use to me in my day job, but tail recursion is its own reward.
