I didn't feel the article properly answered the question, however it did match my perception of boredom and it's benefits.<p>The tl;dr is, when you are bored, you think. And you have many things to think about.<p>I like to consider my senses as PS/2 interfaces to my brain. They give me input but also interupt my ability to deeplu process things. Being bored is the point in time when I stop receiving these inputs and I finally sit and process through all of the data I've gathered, especially more abstract topics.<p>It is when I will realise things about my life or the world that will form concrete ideas/beliefs. Or come to regret earlier decisions and see how to change.
