Here's hoping that the point Troy Hunt makes about the misconception that."Oh, it is an internal-only device, there is no need for a decent password on it" resonates with people.<p>Granted, there are a fair number of people whose home setups are properly segmented and have layered protection, but that number is likely small compared to the thoughtlessly or unintentionally insecurely exposed IoT devices and entire home networks, and so the advice seems quite pertinent.<p>The implementation at HomeAssistant level does seem a bit brute, but also in process of being fixed.<p>The dev's "my kid is sick, I have higher priorities than fixing a warning" is reminiscent of many a conversation both here and elsewhere about OpenSource software and the interaction the devs have with the users.
