Ask HN: Is anybody running serious (+1tb, backupped, ha) db instances in K8s

7 pointsby rubin55about 4 years ago
I'm wondering about experiences of fellow K8S adventurers here on Hacker News with running seriously sized database instances in K8S, choices made, war stories, etc.
What I mean by serious: 1tb+, say ~5gb daily changerate, 1 hour RPO, 24 hour RTO (meaning: you're doing something to make sure you never lose more than 1 hour of data and in case of disaster, you're back on your feet within a day).
I'm mostly thinking about RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL) but am open to opinions from others.
(I asked this on Reddit too: https://www.reddit.com/r/kubernetes/comments/m2n84u/is_anybody_running_serious_sizes_1tb_backupped_ha/. I'm not sure how much that's the same crowd, but I'm looking for a wide range of opinions and ideas).
