I use HN regularly. I use Twitter to learn new things. I have a Facebook which is just a point of presence for people who don't have my number trying to reach me. I have a LinkedIn account but almost never use it because it is just creepy and cringy as fuck. It's hard to use something that makes me want to take multiple showers. It's the most repulsive I know. I have an Instagram account where I have posted a few pictures.
These networks, in my experience, are useful for "discovery and introduction" (leads, mates/partners, etc), i.e for new relations, not really leveraging existing ones or taking action. I transition as soon as possible to physical/real life.
I have none of these applications installed on my phone, neither do I receive notifications. I use a browser to get in, check something, get out.
I'm focused on doing things and maintaining existing relationships. My life right now does not depend on a social media metric going up, so I don't bother. If it did, I probably would.
