The Therapy-App Fantasy

>After Schieve made her case before the City Council at a Zoom meeting in early December, the councilmembers voted unanimously to approve a contract for $1.3 million in CARES Act funding: In 2021, all Reno residents over the age of 13 would have free access to Talkspace.
Neat >Last fall, CNBC reported that Talkspace had sent around a memo offering to indemnify therapists willing to practice in states where they lacked a license, as the company worked to meet soaring demand. (Licensing requirements were waived during the pandemic in some states, but the emergency orders are expected to eventually expire.)
Absolutely disgusting. Why is no one in jail over this ? This article compares app therapy to app dating a good deal. Like app dating app therapy puts multi billion dollar corporations in the mix. These companies have a real profit motive to drive signups while providing substandard service( or straight up committing fraud knowing it's more profitable to break the law than to do things the right way) .
Personally I think most mental health issues in this country are fiscal stability issues. If your going though an eviction or have unstable parents( as a kid) you aren't going to be in a good place. Therapy with it's insistence on having a better outlook on such issues can be less than useless.
To fix America's mental health crisis we need to fix the housing crisis , we need to fix the food insecurity crisis.
